The Senior Design team, “Seniors Servicing Seniors,” is collaborating with Neighborhood Meals on Wheels (NMOW), a non-profit chapter of Meals on Wheels America (MOWA). NMOW is dedicated to preparing and delivering hot lunches, Monday through Friday, to over 150 residents in Gwinnett and Hall Counties. Their regular deliveries and wellness checks help senior community members, who are vulnerable to feelings of isolation, connect with others without leaving their homes.
The team aims to improve operational efficiency for NMOW by creating a new routing system and designing a layout for their new kitchen space. The primary goal of the routing system is to create optimal routes for volunteers to deliver meals while reducing the time required to plan these routes. The kitchen design will strategically place stations and equipment to increase their daily meal throughput to meet increasing demand.
