The aluminum alloy used in bare overhead conductors suffers from mechanical and electrical critical metric yields following an annealing heat cycle. Understanding and modifying this heat treatment cycle to enhance the zirconium precipitation hardening will improve their performance and reduce waste from scrap and reworking.
