Description
The goal of our project is to develop the reactor core and primary loop of a novel static molten salt nuclear reactor. This is accomplished utilizing legacy spent nuclear waste for the purpose of reducing plutonium and radiotoxic actinides content while harnessing thermal energy that would otherwise be wasted in permanent storage. Neutronic, thermohydraulic, and fluid dynamic models are integrated to determine core operating and fuel cycle parameters. Safety analyses are completed using potential initiating event models and corrected for by increasing critical system redundancy.
