Hitch receivers have mostly been left neglected or misunderstood as a protection device to mitigate collision impacts during crashes. However, statistics and reports indicate otherwise. Hitch receivers in fact aggravate the impact felt by occupants and thus increase the risk of injury. The Energy Absorber team is tasked to invent a solution that removes the additional risks associated with hitch receivers while providing enhanced safety features in vehicles during collisions.
