There are currently around twelve different towbar models in use for all of Delta Air Lines’ fleet. Along with the labor and preventative maintenance costs associated with maintaining the nearly 4,200 towbars currently in operation, this large towbar variety can lead the operator to select the wrong towbar for an aircraft, causing aircraft damage and further costs associated with its repair. The goal of this project is to create a single universal towbar head attachment that can be used to tow various aircraft.
