Description
Saturn's moon Titan is the second-largest satellite in the solar system and a high priority region for understanding early evolution in the solar system and for investigating potential signs of biotic activity. Having a dense nitrogenous atmosphere, abundant surface liquid bodies and subsurface briny ocean, make it a prime target for studying the early evolution of life. This project focuses on a concept Titan-orbiter mission design. DynaMITE's purpose is to characterise the seasonal dynamics in Titan's atmospheric chemistry and weather phenomena, develop a global topographical map, and study the moon's alkane cycle, to gain insight on its evolution and prebiotic potential. This will be achieved by taking in-situ atmospheric samples on a near-polar orbit, combined with spectral sounding of the surface and sub-surface regions.
