Description
The purpose of this project is to design and validate a secure multiparty and multifactor update process for the power grid based on open source software. The team will compose various interactive work and update scenarios where software, firmware and reconfigurable hardware in the field is updated with varying authentication methods also involving multiple people (parties) across different vendors (companies). A secure update process involves multiple code reviews, including one by the supplier and one by the power company, and associated signing stages to ensure code integrity (i.e., no malicious code modifications). The software and hardware infrastructure would only install updates properly vetted with the necessary signatures and other authentication factors.
