The Flat Creek Water Reclamation Facility in Gainesville, GA is in need of enhanced aeration due to increased wastewater loading. Although significant system remodeling and expansion is expected by 2035, Flat Creek requires an immediate but temporary aeration tank upgrade to handle exponentially increased BOD loading from industrial activity until the future expansion is installed. The project includes calculation of projected air flow requirements, evaluation of engineered alternatives, preparation of an AACE cost estimate, and selection of equipment to meet the demands of the facility. Construction planning to allow installation without interrupting operation is considered, as the system must operate continuously to meet local regulations and the needs of the community.
