Description
Toxic levels of arsenic (As) contaminants in Guatemalan drinking water are the result of geothermal fluids and volcanic emissions. Commonly used gravity-fed ceramic and activated carbon household filters are not effective in reducing As concentrations to the accepted safety limit. The project is focused on the development of a low-cost As removal filtration system using biochar which integrates with the project sponsored Ecofiltro units.
