Description
The Dolphin CHAT Bot is an interactive, whistle-controlled robotic system designed to advance research in interspecies communication and provide cognitive enrichment for dolphins. This autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) utilizes a hydrophone and real-time acoustic signal processing on a Google Pixel 9 to detect and respond to dolphin vocalizations, translating them into movement commands. The system features three thrusters for precise directional control, a waterproof and impact-resistant enclosure, and optimized power management for extended operation. By enabling dolphins to influence and interact with their environment, this project serves as both a scientific tool for studying marine mammal cognition and a practical solution for enrichment in aquariums and research facilities. The Dolphin CHAT Bot will be demonstrated in controlled aquatic environments to validate its responsiveness, durability, and real-time processing capabilities, with future plans for oceanic deployment and live dolphin trials.
