Description
Tumor resection surgeries can take a neuro-surgeon dangerously close to functional areas of the brain involved in language and motor abilities. Periodic electrical stimulation is used to identify these areas that are critical to avoid damaging, but surgeons currently do not have an accurate, precise, and convenient method of marking these areas. The X-Spot is an attachment designed to integrate smoothly with the probes used for electrical stimulation that tracks the location of functional tissue once identified and alert the surgeon when they are in close proximity to that important tissue.
